Not Underwater anymore

Entrance to Watkins Glen State Park

12,000 years ago, Watkins Glen State Park was underwater. It is amazing to me that the park was underwater. I just can’t grasp it. It boggles my mind!

My story behind going to Watkins Glen State Park, is when I was about 13 years old our family had stopped here to visit . My mother is not an outdoors person and my father grew up being outdoors most of his life. His mother always sent him to Camp Poconos, and  that is where he learned to love the outdoors. So it was natural for him to want to visit here and show us kids.  Well from my recollection it started to drizzle and my mom didn’t want any parts of that, so that was the end well right then I saw this place and told myself I would come back here some day. My dear husband made it possible this year.

My dad told me that him and his mother walked the entire state park

We stopped in the gift shop to get a map, the lady told us that parts of it was under construction. Only about mile was available to walk but she gave us instruction so we could see at least 2 falls. So we headed out …
