Homemade Chai Tea Recipe without Black Tea

I love the taste of the David Rio San Francisco Tiger Spice Chai Tea, I received some for Christmas this year. I have had  other brands that was sweeten with honey but it left different taste in your mouth that I didn’t care for.   I  noticed that David Rio claims they have a decaffeinated brand  too. If you check the ingredients they both still contain Black Tea which means they are caffeinated.   But the spice combination in this is divine and taste so good.  I think the combination of cloves, cardamon, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg is so delightful.

The reason I don’t want to continue with this brand is because of the Black Tea. My religion suggest that we should sustain from tea, coffee, alcohol and tobacco.

This is some of the side effects of Black Tea meaning it has high caffeine which I feel isn’t really good for our kidneys and pumping up our heart too much that we feel we can over do on our activities.  I checked online and this is some of the side effect:

High amounts of black tea can cause side effects due to the caffeine in black tea. These side effects can range from mild to serious and include headache, nervousness, sleep problems, vomiting, diarrhea, irritability, irregular heartbeat, tremor, heartburn, dizziness, ringing in the ears, convulsions, and confusion.

So I even wonder what some of these sport drinks that are loaded with extra caffeine that are on the market now if those who have chosen to drink it how it will effect their body in the future. I know for me that caffeine keeps me up all night till sometimes I go with out sleep for 12 hours. I don’t function or think as straight either and caffeine increases your appetite too.

So my husband helped me find a great solution. This is what I do now. I take about 6 ounces of unsweetened plain Almond Milk and heat it for 2 minutes in the microwave. Then I place a  Bengal Spice Celestial Tea bag and let it steep with lid on it. Then I stir in either 1 Tbsp. raw sugar or some Agave. The taste is the same  except without the black tea.  So I now have new drink. It has the same spices that I love in the Brand name spice tea but without the black tea. Celestial Tea uses chicory root which is substitute for coffee.

I decided to look this up to see what they say about chicory and it there are any health benefits. This is what I found out –

Chicory root has a mild laxative effect, increases bile from the gallbladder, and decreases swelling. Chicory is a rich source of beta-carotene.

It May Improve Digestive HealthChicory root is a good source of fiber, which may help improve several aspects of your digestive health. … This is because chicory contains inulin fiber, a type of prebiotic that promotes the growth of beneficial bacteria in the gut.

So if you are looking for an alternative I would like to recommend this to you. Let me know what you think. Thanks for stopping in and have Great Day.

Recommend – Artisan Pizza Book

I know this blog is suppose to support my jewelry business. But there is life around us. We all have our ups and downs. I don’t like seeing the same post day after day. I think variety and life situations are interesting too.

I am presently changing my life style, had some health issues but trying to resolve them naturally or another wards correcting my diet. I have been trying to eat healthier.

We had this book on the shelf at our home for sometime, but I didn’t want to deal with 7 cups of whole wheat flour that many of these recipes called for.   That meant dragging out the Kitchen Mill by BlendTec. But yesterday, I buckled down to putting this pizza dough recipe together. Got my my hubby out the door and started working on this dough recipe,,,

I must say it went together a lot easier than I thought it would. Then it needed to rest for 2 hours before placing it in the refrigerator. I was only going to be home another hour, so called hubby to see if he could stop on his lunch hour to put the pizza dough in the refrigerator.  As I would not have been home till much later in the evening. It was amazing. I now can see the reasoning that it is nice to have some dough left over so  you can use it to make pita, or more pizza for lunch time later in the week. I have tried two recipes out of this book thus far. I have not had any trouble with either one of them.

This is the recipe book I used: But now I can see the reasoning behind it. I am finding that since I left dairy, oil, sugar, and sodium behind that it seems it takes me longer to prepare. But that is another story another day .

One more suggestion, I would not use the whole wheat flour on grocery shelves. Wheat Flour needs to be stored in the refrigerator or freezer. Rancid flour is not good for you. Either go to store that will freshly ground it for you or invest in the equipment and store whole wheat in #10 cans. It  will last in #10 can with oxygen packet for 30 years. Today I used a can of my wheat berries to produce the wheat flour I needed for this recipe. I used the whole can and did have left overs about 2 1/2 cups not sure as I didn’t not measure. It’s in the freezer in Ziploc bag until I need it again sometime.

This recipe did not call for kneading either. I put 3.5 cups warm water in large bowl and added 1 Tablespoon of yeast. The instructions said to add the next items in:                         1 T of kosher salt,                                                                                                       2 T of Agave Syrup but I used Agave  sweetener,                                                       1/8 cup olive oil,                                                                                                          7 cups of fresh ground whole wheat.

Then you might need to use your wet hands to get all the flour mixed in.

. Then it was time to let it sit for the next 2 hours to rise.  By the time I left for work it was already at the top of my bowl. Not sure what it was like when hubby came and put it in the refrid. I just told him not to punch it down. So it was nice coming home to the pizza crust ready just had to shape it and sprayed a pan and put my rolled out dough on it. I made two mini pizzas this way hubby could dress his the way he liked it and I could put on mine what I wanted.

It was hit, he mentioned the dough tasted better. Whole wheat has more fiber.

Hope this helps someone along the path. till we meet again.

Benefits of Water

I have always told people that they needed to drink water. Then I would say to Image result for glass of waterthem, would you run  your car with out oil – no would be the answer. So you need to drink water every day.

I want to share something that happened to me this week in fact. I have been having to go to P.T. (Physical Therapy early before work) . One night I woke up with either my sciatic nerve killing me at 8.0 pain level or my bladder I wasn’t sure which, I could not lay on my right, nor my back nor my left side. My dear husband was snoring so I didn’t want to wake him up and whine how bad I hurt. So I prayed and finally fell asleep on my stomach with out a pillow.

The following day, I asked the therapist what were some of the symptoms of dehydration? He mentioned that disk needed water or it could be very painful as I describe to him how I felt  a few days ago at 12:20 a.m. in the morning. So the following day. I drank about 5 cups of water compared to one. That night I did not wake up with any more pain.

I have notice too if I am craving sweets, it is also sign of dehydration. He mentioned one could have pains in the heart too if you needed to fuel up on more water. Which I thought it was indigestion and didn’t think anything about it. But now I am listening to my body. Water is good for a lot of things.. I didn’t realize that distilled water was acidic so may have to change course on that. But I don’t really care for the taste of spring water.

Here’s websites to back up my issues and symptoms of dehydration:
