Share Your World ~ 3/26/2018

What is your favorite color of hair? You can name your hair color or a color that you just like. I don’t think I have favorite. I like really dark black hair on some folks and other times I like the gray tones that people get when they are starting to loose their natural color. I also like brown hair and certain blonde colors too. They say blondes have more fun.

List at least 5 things that you are good at.

  1. I am mechanically inclined, so I am good at using hammer, drill, electric sander,
  2. I’m good at framing pictures such a putting a frame together, cutting mats, glass and closing up a frame.
  3. I have good eye for color.
  4.  I am good at listening and I remember what they tell me.
  5. I can keep a secret
  6. I’m good at teaching others how to run a computer, use family search, ancestry etc.
  7. I am good at genealogical research.
  8. I am good at teaching myself to sew, or  cook new recipe.
  9. I can canned food, I have even canned cakes in jar before.
  10. I ‘m good at being organized.

What is your favorite animal or type of animal? (pets, dolphins, stuffed, wild cats, etc).  I basically just a cat or dog lover. We had cats and dogs when i was growing up. I think one year I had toad and some gold fish, but they weren’t very personable. We have had many cats, but now we don’t have any pets at home. I was tired of being the only one to clean out the cat box. So elected not to have one anymore. My hubby is allergic to cats.

What did you appreciate or what made you smile this past week?  I decided to paint a bookcase. I had stripped it kind of but not all the way. Any how I’ve been in love with blue lately. So decided to paint it a dark blue. Saw desk in an interior book and just kind of kept it in the back of my mind. I will have to take picture of what I am talking about and upload it later.   There are flowers at the top of book case, instead of painting them I am allowing the wood to show thru. It reminds me of leather tooling, which I have done in the past too.

Whooos Birthday is coming up. Cute Gift BAg designed by Mary O @ Prairie Pine Peddler

There are a lot of cute owl containers or gift bags on Pinterest these day. I decided I wanted to try my hand at one of these cute fellows. This is what I came up with, he is wearing cute vest made out of musical paper.  His eyes are punch from 4″, 2′ and 1/2″ circles. I applied orange nose with some buttons to give the right accents.

Candy Bomber

Candy Bomber: The Story of the Berlin Airlift's

I came across this book quite by accident. I work in a library you see. Each week new books are brought down to our area. We look them over and then they are placed on carts to be shelved.

I think this one was in with the non fiction, however as I started to read this, I noticed it was more of 5th or 6th grade level reading. So I looked at the spine and noticed there was J in front of the call number – meaning it belonged up in the Youth dept.

My two cents is I was wondering if this person who was inspired and dropped all these little parachutes off was still living and the story  behind it. It is must read, will bring hope, and you’ll just know that we all have mission to fill while we are on this earth. We just need to listen to that still small voice that will guide your life.

I am thankful that I had the opportunity to read this book. I don’t know where I was when I was growing up with history as I wasn’t all that interested in and now that I am older I am more interested in it then I was before. Hope this will help someone along their path.

Desiderata Poem

This is one of my favorites:

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant, they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.

If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love, for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is perennial as the grass.

Take kindly to the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.

Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.
