If you could hire someone to help you, would it be with cleaning, cooking, or yard work? I would ask them to help me with yard work. I have seem where people have helped with cleaning and they would throw things away that were valuable to the other person. Unless they were cleaning a kitchen or bathroom you could not get into trouble in those two areas. So yard work would be my choice.

If you were to move and your home came fully furnished with everything you ever wanted, list at least three things from your old house you wish to retain?                     I would take my pillow because it supports my neck when I am sleeping, I would take special knickknacks that family members have given me over the years. I would take my family history and any books pertaining to family members that are not replaceable.

My husband has been after me to downsize. I am having a hard time with this. Recently I have decided to sell my mat cutter and give all my mats away along with it. I have girl friend that lives about and hour and half  from me. We don’t seem to get together. But recently she was interested in how I blocked needlework. I did this for a business for about 6 years until I got married and moved away from this area. I was pleased that someone actually wanted some knowledge that I had and was glad to share it with her. So she wants to cut mats, she wants to know how to cut down a frame, and how to put a frame together. We are going to get together I guess after Christmas. I am just pleased that someone is interested in my hobby and appreciates my talents.

What calms you down? Talking it over with someone else on the phone.

What inspired you or what did you appreciate this past week?                                         I love Christmas time, and my birthday is in December too.  I love wrapping presents. I love making cards, but my husband and I visited so many 2nd hand stores lately he kept finding really good deals on Christmas cards that I am using them this year. Maybe I will get an earlier start and make my own for next year. I have enjoyed making and creating gift wrapping ideas.

I made Christmas cookies, my favorite cut outs are mittens and tree lights. I used a paint brush to put my icing on. I was trying to figure out how others decorated cookies my coworker mention using piping bag. I used Whole wheat cookie recipe and icing from this website:

I found this cute game at a 2nd hand store over the weekend. My granddaughter loves to jump on the bed so this game will be right up her alley. I can’t wait to play this game with her after Christmas.. The box had a small bing where it opens up, but I only paid $2.00 for it. Amazon has it for 17.99 plus 5.99 shipping. Five Little Monkeys Jumping On The Bed Game

I bought some candles at Menards last week, the box had 3 graduating sizes for $4.99. They were flameless candles lights with remote control and had were colored lights. I wanted mine to be plain so kept them that way.  I went back and bought another box to make present for one of my friends as well.  I found three free clip art pictures: of manger with Joseph and Mary; one with 3 wise men silhouettes on camels; and shepherds in the field with the star. I modge podge them to the three candle. Then when the light is turned on it is glowing behind my three scenes I put on there. I got the idea on Pinterest.

I was helping patron as she had email on the cloud. She was wanting to download it was weird way of doing it. But i finally figured it out. I told her i was thankful to help her because then if someone else came along i would know how to help them. Suddenly she brighten up. The other thing she wanted to get to these particular emails but she had a lot of junk so i showed her how to make folder snd how to move certain ones into it.She was excited that she learned to do this. I told her if she coukd not remember i would show her again. She seemed to need a hug and i told her i would keep her in my prayers. She knew prayers were answered. She left with a lighter step and thanked me for assisting her.

I am excited to spend time with my granddaughter and family this year. Life is certainly speeding by. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to every one.

If you were given the opportunity to ride in a helicopter would go? Maybe, it would depend upon the circumstance. I would not want to be sitting near the opening.

What are some of your favorite type of proteins to eat? (meat, seafood, eggs, soy, cheese, nuts) I don’t enjoy chewing meat, have had teeth problems most of my life.  So I tend to  like softer foods like eggs, lentils. I use to love almonds, peanuts, now living with partial which is harder to chew with. I don’t care for peanut butter but I grew up on  cream cheese and jelly sandwiches. I use to love Oscar Meyer LIver worst, my mother would put mustard on bread and raw onions on top of liverwurst and I take that for school lunches.

What would be your preference, awake before dawn, at dawn, or awake before noon? I like waking up before dawn. You can get more done in the morning then at night.

What inspired you or what did you appreciate this past week?  Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination. I appreciated the teamwork we have in the reference department at work when we were working on getting the Art Show ready for opening night. . Pitching in and helping each other getting items ready for Community Art Show. I also appreciate the example my mother set. I also appreciate my husband too and the things he does for me.

If you had to have your vision corrected would you rather: glasses or contacts? Or what do you use if you need to have your vision corrected? I had my lenses replaced when I was 57, thought that was early since both parents didn’t have their cataracts done in their 80’s. I prefer not to wear glasses. But I won’t not want to wear contacts either. I have allergies and I think they would bother them. I guess I like wearing glasses have the time and then I stick them up on my head until I need them. Sort of like an airline pilot.

Are you more of a dog person or a cat person? I grew up with both dog and cat. But cats are nice so when you go on vacation. When we go on vacation we can leave out food enough for week and not worry about them. Where as dog needs more maintenance.

If you were to buy a new house/apartment what is the top three items on your wish list? If I was going to move into house or apartment? Well if I was moving into apartment I would want to know what kind of neighbors I had, I would want a first floor apt and a garage. If I was moving into house  I would want a garage, live on corner lot and art room.

What inspired you this past week?  Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination. I learned one thing, if I don’t understand what someone had explained to me, I am going back for clarification! It has given me more peace of mind instead of trying to guess what they were trying to say to me!!!!

List some of your favorites types of teas.

My step daughter turned me onto this Tension Tamer Herbal Tea because it was suppose to be good for people that got stressed out. So this use to be my all time favorite.

Then a couple of years ago we went to Colorado. One the places we visited was the Boulder, Colorado and went thru the Celestial Seasoning Factory. While one was waiting to go on the tour through the factory, they had all the teas out to taste test. I fell in love with Bengal Spice Tea, I can make this and drink it straight without adding any sugar or honey sweetner.

My daughter turned me on to a Chai Latte and so I bought this at Trader Joe’s version because it was suppose to be caffeine free.

If you had to describe your day as a traffic sign, what would it be?

Just a bump in the road, you win some and lose some. Just keep pluggin forward.

Irregardless of your physical fitness, coordination or agility: If you could be an athlete what would do do?  As I was reflecting on this, I read Cee’s answer about what a certain show left impression on her or things she learned from that show. The show that is really old but I can still remember a few of the shows in my mind is TV show about old Chinese man that teaches young student how to be disciple and it was also about  martial art but on the same plain it was about controlling one’s self.

What are a couple of things could people do for you on a really bad day that would really help you?         Be a good listener, hug or share something to get my mind off what I am stewing about.

What are you grateful for from last week,Because of the weather, we or rather I planted my garden in later than  normal. We either  had cold weather or rain it was impossible to get into the garden to plant etc.. When I went to nursery to buy plants, I called ahead of time to see if they were open and if she had any plants I wanted left, She told me a lot of people got their gardens in late this year. So I didn’t feel bad. . This is my first pickin from my garden that I picked tonight –  nice head of broccoli that I am going to freeze

and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?  Well I had MRI, and I was told all my life that I had slipped disk, turns out I have vertebra slipping that is putting strain on the spinal cord and sciatic nerve.

I can get this pain under control if I do some physical therapy. I am thankful that I don’t have to go under the knife. So I will be doing Physical Therapy three times a week for the next three weeks.

What is your favorite cheese? I basically love Swiss Cheese cut really thin deli style plus it is low in sodium.

Are you left or right handed? I am right handed, but in a  pinch I could write with my left hand. And one could still read my hand writing.

Do you prefer exercising your mind or your body? How frequently do you do either? I basically like to walk about three times a week, nothing to strenuous but I like walking a mile each time. Lately I have had some medical problems keeping me from this, so I am anxious to start up again as I was loosing weight and still need to get 20 more pounds off in order to feel better with my back.

Complete this sentence: Hot days are wonderful… because I am normally cold. So when the weather is hot I love it. Everyone else around me disagrees!. One thing that would help a person stay cooler in hot weather is to eat less meat. Meat contains heat and therefore you will be hotter in warm weather and stay warmer in the colder weather. Therefore I like to eat more veggies and fruits in the summer time.

What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am grateful that my dad is hanging on even though he is 90.

This week we are spending time with our grand daughter. She loves wearing dresses. She won’t wear shorts or long pants. She is definitely loves girly things, and reminds me of pioneer girl. She is celebrating her birthday (only 6) with her friends at dance academy and  pizza  party. We will be attending to watch her enjoy herself.

How do you like to spend a rainy day? Most of my rainy days, are spent at work, but when it is raining even during lunch I will go out and eat in my car while it is raining. In my college years I use to run thru the rain with friend. That was fun.

List at least five favorite treats. (They do not have to be sugary)

  • I love pretzels, I would love to find a healthy soft pretzel recipe made with whole wheat white flour.
  • I love vanilla/chocolate swirl ice cream cones
  • a dark chocolate bar.
  •  I love spaghetti
  • I love quiches. My grandmother always had luncheon for my birthday. I asked couple girlfriends over. She would make a broccoli and ham quiche and those were some of the happy memories I have of her.

Where’s your favorite place to take out-of-town guests? My favorite place to take out of town quest is either Brienzo’s Wood Fired Pizza in Peoria, Illinois or  Bishop Hill to the Bakery that serves unique lunches.

You are trapped in an elevator, who would you want to be trapped with? If I had been younger I would pick  Joe Cocker, I loved the way he sang

or with America Band that sang “Horse with no name” that is my most favorite song.

What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am grateful that I have roof over my head and job. This week I am looking forward to getting furniture moved around. We painted the living room and every thing that was once in there is in the rest of the house, I can’t wait to unpack the books and put them back on the shelves of the book cases.

Answers to Cee’s Share Your World 3 July 2017

For your main meal do you prefer sweet and sour, hot and spicy, spicy and sweet, bitter, salty, bland or other? I like spicy but it doesn’t always like me. I have sweet tooth but recently changed my diet as I was tired of either having cavities or teeth pulled. My husband is diabetic and can’t have sweet stuff so I don’t buy cookies or candy as I don’t like it sitting around the house. I recently have made Fudgesicles which  consisted of pure maple syrup, dark unsweetened chocolate cocoa powder, vanilla extract and plain yogurt. The carbs and sugar are low so we were both allowed to have them. I got the recipe from this book. Check to see if your local library can get this book for you and then if you really like it, then one can purchase the book at

Where do you hide junk when people come over?

I either try to put stuff away where it belongs or stick everything in the quest room.

What daily habit would you like to introduce to your life? I would like to get up early and exercise before going to work, instead I walking after work couple days a week only. I have projects that I need to tackle and have not. Sometimes I think about it when I am at work.

If you were to perform in the circus, what would you do?  I would not perform but introduce the acts or serve cotton candy for free to young children.

What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am very grateful that my dad didn’t die last week. The nursing home he was in didn’t take very good care of him. The hospital had seen him 3 months ago and notice a big change in him, He had lost 20 lbs, bed sores on his back, extremely low blood pressure so he was near death’s door. He has pneumonia and was dehydrated. The nurses at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines were great and explained and updated us on his condition. They said he was stubborn but that is was plus as he would live longer and heal faster. The hospital got him out of ICU after 2 days and he is mending in regular room. I went to see him on Sunday, he held my hand tightly even thou he was kind of out of it. They are going to move him to different nursing home. I would not recommend this one he came from and I am not sure if my sister will turn this nursing home in or give them a bad review.
